Allergy Relief for Dogs

This product, our first, was formulated by one of our founders specifically for her cocker spaniel, Sammie.

Sammie had been living up north, happy and allergy-free, until her owner moved into a retirement home and could no longer keep her. Sammie was brought to live in Florida and developed severe environmental/inhalant allergies. She was constantly whining and scratching, rolling on carpets and rugs, and chewing herself day and night. She also developed frequent ear infections. Nobody wanted to be near her or touch her because, despite many medicated baths, her body odor was terrible and seemed to adhere to the hands after petting her. Antihistamines gave little, if any, relief and finally the owner broke down, despite all the warnings and bad side effects, and got her a steroid injection. Sammie finally had some relief – no itching and the body odor went away. It lasted about 5 weeks; then she started itching and scratching and whining again, as badly as before, and had to endure for a few weeks until she could get another injection. The next steroid injection once again provided complete relief. BUT, it only lasted 4 days!

“There has to be a better way” became our mantra. Sammie’s owner had been taking herbs for her own allergies, so we started doing research on herbs, vitamins, supplements and alternative and holistic remedies and natural health aids for dogs. We also had intensive blood workups done on Sammie before starting her on the herbal formula in September of 2005. Sammie’s been on this herbal formula twice daily since then and her semi-annual blood-workups show that her levels are healthy and have not changed. Since starting the herbs, Sammie’s a bouncing happy little dog who sleeps through the night and only occasionally itches and scratches.

The only discernible side effect is that Sammie drinks more water and has to go outside to potty once or twice more during the day than before the herbs. However, in Sammie’s case, this is a serendipitous effect because we believe this mild natural diuretic action coupled with the mild natural anti-inflammatory properties in the herbs have eliminated her occasional idiopathic (from unknown causes) urinary tract infections. Since being on these herbs since September 2005, she has not had any urinary problems at all. She’s content and comfortable, and goes to the vet’s only for her annual check-ups and semi-annual senior blood-workups.

Sammie had been on this herbal formula for many months when Atopica came out on the market. From all the reports, Atopica is working well, but it’s made of man-made chemicals that may cause adverse side effects, and the price is prohibitive to some, costing anywhere from $50.00 to $150.00 per month, depending on the size of the dog. We have found this all natural herbal mixture to be so effective that we wanted to share it with others who have dogs with environmental/inhalant allergies and at a price that’s affordable to all.
